Q: What is the first session like?
I utilize the first lesson to accomplish one main goal: To get to know you and your child! Every child is excited about different things and learns in different ways. Unlike other teachers, I don't treat every child the same and expect them to learn the same way.
In the first session, I'll ask the student some questions, get to know them, and tell them a little bit about me. I'll help them learn the best way to sit on the piano, and they'll get to choose their sticker chart and earn their first sticker. I'll also ask them their favorite song, which I will learn for them by the next lesson!
The first session is always free. The following session will be our first lesson, where the fun begins :)
Q: Where do lessons take place?
I am most comfortable providing lessons from my home in Rocklin as I have a full 88-key piano with soft-touch keys that are easy for students to learn on. I also store all of my activities, sticker charts, and learning tools in my home. However, other accommodations can be discussed during our consultation call. Every child learns differently :)
Q: Does my child need a piano to practice on?
Yes please! But they don't need anything fancy. My first keyboard was an electric stand-up with half the keys of a classic piano! I'd be happy to help you find the right piano to fit your house and your student's needs.
Q: What books does my student need?
I currently have a discount deal where I will buy your child's first set of books! We use the Piano Adventures series, and request the student has the basic lesson book and theory book.
